#92 - Ku-Ring-Gai Chase

Another quirk of TripAdvisor is how it decides on locations.  Some things that you might expect to be classed as Sydney don't show up, while others that are further away, do.  Ku-Ring-Gai Chase is an area around 30km North of Sydney city, but you can get there in about half an hour if you are driving. I don't know if it's possible to get there by public transport.

Even although it's only half an hour away from a big city, it does feel like you are in the middle of the bush.  Just to be clear, that's trees and bushes kind of bush, and not the dusty red soil kind of bush. That's probably obvious to most people, but before we moved to Austalia, when I thought of bush, I just thought of dusty red desert.  I suppose the clue is in the name though.

The weird side-shed hairdo is the result of wearing a hat all day.  It is absolutely not a tribute to Hitler, despite what it may look like
Anyway, it's a big area, and there is plenty to do if you like outdoor activities.  There are beaches, rivers, parks and viewpoints.  Loads of places to go swimming, fishing or sailing.  I believe there are aboriginal sites as well, although we didn't actually spend any time at them.  It's a nice enough place just to go up and drive around, but to get the most out of it, you would probably want to have a plan. If you want to get back to nature, without having to go too far from the city, it's a great spot.

Having said all that, I suppose it's all about opinions.  I'm sure plenty of people would think it is just trees and water, in the same way I think the shopping malls are just a bunch of shops...

Not a bad spot
